Box of Dread – August
Who doesn’t love surprises? If you’ve listened to the podcast, you know I hate spoilers. I love being surprised and not knowing what’s coming. So when you combine my love of surprises with horror, you have things like the Box of Dread! Box of Dread is a subscription box service that is part of the amazing Dread Central. It costs $14 a month (plus $6 for shipping) for a month by month service or you can prepay for 3 months and have each month discounted to $13 (plus $6 dollars for shipping each month). Each month has a theme and you can expect to find hand picked toys, stickers, autographs, comics, and more geeky goodness that has to do with that month’s theme. Also, each month they have an extra special box called “The 7th Box”. The 7th Box is like winning the Box of Dread lottery and there are better and more valuable items inside.
The August Box of Dread theme is “Predator” and this is what my box looked like when I opened it (insert a sound effect of an angelic “Ahhhhhhh”).

As you can see, the first thing that pops out is this super cute Predator plush. Who would have though that this dreaded alien could be so cute and cuddly?

Next in my box was another Predator toy. It was a Predator Minimate blind bag. I got Billy. Now I want to find the others to recreate the movie!

After that I found a Cthulhu air freshener and Murloc (from World of Warcraft) keychain.

Also, a Mars Attacks! Martian King pin as well as a Cthulhu sticker.

Finally, at the bottom of the box was what I was most excited about. A comic (that was bagged and boarded…THANK YOU for doing that) from Eibon Press. This is a preview magazine exclusive to Box of Dread. It had exclusive art, stories, and extended previews from their upcoming comic books. I LOVE this. The art is beautiful and all of it is based on Lucio Fulci’s movies (Zombie, Gates of Hell, and Bottomfeeder). If this is a teaser to what’s to come, then I am in 100%.
